# Ostrich

The *Ostrich* is the largest living bird, native to the savannas and deserts of **Africa**.
It is flightless but highly adapted for running, with long legs capable of reaching speeds up to 70 km/h.
Ostriches are known for their distinctive long necks, powerful legs, and large eggs  the biggest of any living bird.

## Appearance
- Tall, flightless bird with long neck and legs
- Small head with large eyes for keen vision
- Plumage varies, with males often darker and females lighter brown
- In-game size: **2.5 blocks long** and **2.5 blocks tall**

## Behavior
- **Neutral**: Will not attack unless provoked
- Moves quickly across terrain, often in small groups
- May lay eggs, reflecting their real-world nesting behavior
- Can deliver powerful kicks when threatened

## Obtaining
Ostrich spawns naturally in savanna biomes.

- **Herbivore**: feeds on seeds, plants, and occasional insects
- Grazes across open savanna terrain

- Ostriches are one of the few modern animals included in Jurassic Saga, serving as a source of Ostrich Eggs needed for hatching large dinosaurs.
- Ostrich Eggs are the largest eggs used in the mod, required for creatures like Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, and other massive dinosaurs.
- Despite popular myth, ostriches don't actually bury their heads in sand when frightened  this misconception comes from their habit of lying flat to avoid detection.
