*Protoceratops* is a genus of small protoceratopsid dinosaurs that lived in Asia during the **Late Cretaceous**, around 75–71 million years ago.
The genus includes two species: *P. andrewsi* and the larger *P. hellenikorhinus*.
It is often depicted locked in combat with *Velociraptor*, based on a famous fossil find.

## Appearance
- Small ceratopsian with a short frill and beaked mouth
- Robust body and strong limbs for digging or foraging
- Lacked horns but had a characteristic frill shape unique to the genus
- In-game size: **5 blocks long** and **2 blocks tall**

## Behavior
- **Neutral**: Will not attack unless provoked
- Retaliates when attacked
- Often found in small groups, reflecting herd-like behavior
- Uses its beak and body weight to defend itself when cornered

## Obtaining
Protoceratops does not spawn naturally. To obtain one, you must:
1. Find ![](@jurassic-saga:textures/item/natural/entity/animal/v2/extinct/protoceratops/protoceratops_fossil_remains) [**Protoceratops Remains**]($content/items/fossil) or fossils
2. Use the fossil revival process to create a Protoceratops
3. Hatch from a **Chicken Egg** type egg

## Diet

- Grazes on shrubs and low vegetation
