# Power Substation

The Power Substation extends your power network. It does not generate power of its own  it draws from a [Geothermal Power Generator]($content/machines/geothermal_generator) (or another source) and re-broadcasts it, letting you reach parts of your park the generator cannot.

## How it works

1. Place the substation within range of an existing power source
2. It requests power from that source and, while the source is running, becomes a source itself
3. Anything within **25 blocks** of the substation is now powered

Because a substation only relays while its own source is powering, cutting the generator cuts everything downstream of it.
