# Carapace of the Unbroken

The Carapace of the Unbroken is unbreakable chest armor. It reduces incoming damage by 30% after armor and protects the wearer against fire, lava, poison, and wither. Those protections work with the Carapace alone.

## Abilities

**Unbroken** is an activated defense. For 20 seconds, damage reduction increases to 80%, replacing the ordinary 30% reduction. Cooldown: three minutes.

**Refusal** requires no key press. When a hit would otherwise kill you, it restores you to 50% health, removes harmful effects, extinguishes fire, and grants eight seconds of damage protection. Cooldown: five minutes.

## Controls and crafting

The Carapace's default ability key is **J**. You can change it under **Options → Controls → Hollowforged**.
