# Alchemy Gates

The Philosopher's Stone isn't crafted. You earn it by passing a series of alchemy gates, twelve steps named after the
stages of the alchemists' Great Work.

Each gate is a riddle. The riddles come from scraps of **Lost Knowledge**, and piecing a riddle together is the
puzzle. This wiki leaves them for you to solve.

Once you hold the Stone you can cast circles in thin air. A better Stone makes casting cheaper.

On the way, alchemy also gives you:

- **Salt lines** that mobs won't cross at night.
- **Sulfur vents** that turn water into healing hot springs.
- **Ore doubling**, up to five times, and transmutations such as iron to gold.
- **Block chains**, like cobblestone to gravel to sand.

Gates are datapack files under `data/<namespace>/alchemy_gate/`, so a pack can retune them.
