Fuel ports need to be placed on the top of the reactor, with fuel rods beneath.

This is where fuel pellets can be inserted. The port automatically distributes inserted uranium or plutonium pellets to the rods below.

When used with item pipes or drones, it can be used to build continuously supplied power plants.
