Scoochworms are segmented creatures that carry players and items across solid surfaces and along Scoochstem paths.
Movement
Interact with a Scoochworm's head to start or stop it. A moving Scoochworm wanders across solid surfaces and can crawl around corners between floors, walls, and ceilings.
When it reaches Scoochstem, it follows the path in its current direction.
At a flat branch, the Scoochworm first tries to continue forward. If forward travel is unavailable, it chooses an available left or right path. If both side paths are available, it chooses one randomly.
Scoochworms stop at the end of a valid Scoochstem path and turn away from edges they cannot crawl around while wandering.
Segments
New Scoochworms begin with one body segment. Feeding the head a Melon adds another segment, up to a maximum of 16.
Each segment can hold one attachment.
The Lockbox provides an accessible 27-slot inventory, automatically collects dropped items, and unloads them while upside down. A standard Saddle allows one player to ride its segment without controlling the Scoochworm.
Using Shears on a middle segment splits the Scoochworm in two. The original keeps the segments before the cut, while the tail reverses direction and becomes the head of a new Scoochworm. Attachments remain on the transferred segments, but the old tail's attachment drops because that segment becomes the new head. The shears take one point of durability.
The first and last body segments cannot be split.
