Warning
Known Issue: Feeders are currently broken in version 0.1.8.2 and do not dispense food automatically. Players must feed creatures manually until this is fixed in a future update.
Info
The last update on this page was on: 18th March 2026
Feeders are automated feeding systems designed to keep your prehistoric creatures well-fed without constant manual intervention.
By placing the appropriate feeder type and configuring its hunger threshold, you can ensure your dinosaurs and other creatures maintain proper nutrition levels automatically.
Types of Feeders
Herbivore Feeder
- Placement: Ground (5x5 blocks)
- Accepts:
Leaves only - Used by: Herbivorous creatures (Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, etc.)
- Function: Automatically dispenses leaves when herbivores approach and meet the configured hunger threshold
Carnivore Feeder
- Placement: Ground (5x5 blocks)
- Accepts:
Raw and cooked meats, fish, and other carnivore-compatible foods - Used by: Carnivorous creatures (Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, etc.)
- Function: Automatically dispenses meat when carnivores approach and meet the configured hunger threshold
Piscivore Feeder (Aquatic Feeder)
- Placement: Wall-mounted only (5x5 blocks)
- Accepts:
Fish and other aquatic foods - Used by: Piscivorous creatures (marine reptiles, fish-eating dinosaurs)
- Function: Automatically dispenses fish when piscivores approach and meet the configured hunger threshold
Configuration
Hunger Threshold Slider
Each feeder features an adjustable hunger threshold slider that controls when food is dispensed:
- Higher Setting: Feeder dispenses food when creatures are only slightly hungry (dispenses at higher hunger percentage)
- Lower Setting: Feeder dispenses food only when creatures are very hungry (dispenses at lower hunger percentage)
Usage:
- Right-click on the feeder to open its interface
- Adjust the slider to your desired hunger threshold
- Stock the feeder with appropriate food items
- The feeder will automatically dispense food to creatures that meet the hunger requirement
Placement Guide
Ground Feeders (Herbivore & Carnivore)
- Require a flat 5x5 ground area
- Best placed in open spaces where creatures can easily access them
- Can be placed in enclosures, paddocks, or feeding areas
- Ensure creatures have clear pathways to reach the feeder
Wall-Mounted Feeder (Piscivore)
- Must be attached to a vertical wall surface
- Requires a 5x5 wall space
- Ideal for aquatic enclosures or marine exhibits
- Position underwater or at water level for optimal access
Usage Tips
- Stock feeders regularly to ensure creatures don't go hungry
- Use multiple feeders for large herds or mixed-diet enclosures
- Adjust hunger thresholds based on creature behavior and population size
- Higher thresholds keep creatures well-fed but consume more food
- Lower thresholds conserve food but creatures may remain hungry longer
- Monitor food levels in feeders to prevent starvation
- Consider placing feeders away from high-traffic areas to reduce stress on creatures

Trivia
- The automated feeder system is inspired by the feeding systems seen throughout the Jurassic Park franchise
- In Jurassic Park (1993), the feeding of the Velociraptors was a key plot point and required careful timing and safety protocols
- The hunger threshold slider allows players to balance creature welfare with resource management, similar to the challenges faced by park operators in the films
