Fighting the Harrower

The Harrower is an optional endgame boss intended for players who have already acquired powerful equipment. It cannot be encountered by accident: the fight begins when a player completes the Hollow Cairn ritual.

Know what you're fighting

The Harrower is a colossal creature of fractured stone. It has heavy melee attacks, ground-shaking area attacks, a grab, and Hollowing, which drains life while drawing souls toward the creature. The fight changes through multiple phases, so surviving the opening attacks does not mean you've seen everything.

Rupture and ground attacks

Watch for the Harrower's attack warnings and move before an impact lands. Rupture and other ground attacks punish players who stay close without watching the boss's movements.

Grasp

The Harrower can seize a player rather than simply strike them. Treat close range as dangerous even when wearing strong armor.

Hollowing

Hollowing draws pale souls toward the Harrower while inflicting substantial damage. Its visual buildup is a warning, not decoration.

Prepare the battlefield

Build the Hollow Cairn in an open area with room to move. Bring reliable healing, durable endgame equipment, and a way to recover if the fight goes badly. Do not assume that an enclosed arena, narrow ledge, or nearby water will make the encounter easier.

Defeat and rewards

The Harrower's rewards are released during the delayed death-and-crumble sequence, not immediately on the killing blow. Wait for the remains to break apart before collecting the loot.

For the ritual itself, see Summoning the Harrower.
