Salt is the item obtained from salt blocks used for crafting.

Salt can be obtained from salt blocks using any item, but shovels are the quickest. When a salt block is broken with a regular tool, it drops 2–4 salt. The Fortune enchantment increases the average amount of salt dropped, though it does not increase the maximum. If broken with a tool enchanted with Silk Touch, the salt block drops itself instead.
