Cursed Earth spreads across nearby dirt and rapidly spawns hostile mobs in dark areas. It can be used to make a powerful mob farm, but can be very dangerous if not managed.
Cursed Earth can be created by using a Drop of Evil on a compatible dirt block. Activating a Division Sigil also creates it beneath the ritual's Enchanting Table.
Spreading and Light
Newly created Cursed Earth spreads quickly at first, then continues spreading more slowly during random block ticks. It can replace blocks in the #excessive_utilities:cursed_earth_replaceable tag, which contains dirt blocks by default. It needs an open block above its target and will not spread normally when the light above it is greater than 4.
By default, Cursed Earth exposed to the daytime sky ignites with Soul Fire. Fire spreads rapidly through nearby Cursed Earth, eventually turning it back into Dirt. Cover the area before converting a large platform, and keep ordinary fire away from it unless you intend to remove it.
Cursed Mobs
Monsters spawned directly by Cursed Earth are Cursed. Cursed mobs appear almost completely dark, emit smoke, move 20% faster, and deal 150% additional base attack damage with the default configuration.
The Resturbed Mob Spawner also marks the mobs it creates as Cursed. A server operator can apply or remove the same state with the mod's entity curse command.
Cursed Earth uses the local biome's normal monster list and spawn rules. It stops attempting additional spawns when the configured number of monsters is already nearby, and entity types in #excessive_utilities:cursed_earth_blacklist cannot be selected.
Configuration
Server owners can configure:
- Whether Cursed Earth burns when exposed to daylight
- The maximum number of nearby monsters before spawning pauses
- The radius used to count those monsters
- The attack-damage and movement-speed bonuses given to Cursed mobs
- The period and chance used for Cursed Earth's work attempts
