Tapejara is a genus of pterosaur from the Early Cretaceous period, with fossils discovered in the Santana Formation of what is now Ceará, Brazil. It is best known for its large, elaborate cranial crest, which differed significantly between males and females and is thought to have played a role in display and species recognition. Despite its small size, Tapejara was a capable flier, likely hunting fish over coastal and inland waters.

Appearance

• Small pterosaur with broad wings, a short neck, and a distinctive large cranial crest
• Displays strong sexual dimorphism in both colouration and crest appearance:
• Males have a sandy tan-beige body with vivid deep red wings bearing blue accent patches on the crest and wing membrane, an orange-red beak and crest, and a warm yellow-orange eye
• Females have a rich dark green body and wings with brighter lime-green highlights, a warm golden-brown face and beak, a large rounded green crest with lighter mottled patterning, and a cream-white chest and belly
• In-game size: 1 block long and 1 block tall

Behavior

• Passive: Does not attack players or other creatures unprovoked
• Likely perches near water sources and takes to the air to hunt fish

Obtaining

Tapejara does not spawn naturally. To obtain one, you must:

1. Enable Experimental Features
2. Find Tapejara Remains or fossils
3. Use the fossil revival process to create a Tapejara
4. Hatch from a Chicken Egg type egg

Diet

• Piscivore: feeds on fish
• Likely hunted by swooping low over the water to snatch fish with its beak
