Eggs are essential items in Jurassic Saga's genetic engineering system, serving as the foundation for creating prehistoric creatures.
Different egg types are required for different species, and understanding which egg to use is crucial for successful creature revival.
Egg Types
Chicken Egg
- Size Category: Small
- Used For: Small reptiles and birds
- Obtain: Naturally laid by chickens
- Examples: Small theropods, early dinosaurs
Frog Egg
- Size Category: Amphibian
- Used For: Amphibious creatures
- Obtain: Naturally laid by frogs
- Examples: Amphibian species
Ostrich Egg
- Size Category: Large
- Used For: Large reptiles and birds
- Obtain: Naturally laid by ostriches (requires ostriches in-game)
- Examples: Large theropods, sauropods, large carnivores
- Creatures Using This Egg: Tyrannosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Spinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Mamenchisaurus
Fish Egg
- Size Category: Aquatic
- Used For: Aquatic creatures
- Obtain: Naturally laid by fish (requires specific fish in-game)
- Examples: Marine reptiles, prehistoric fish
Basilisk Egg
- Size Category: Small Reptile
- Used For: Small reptilian creatures
- Obtain: Naturally laid by basilisks (requires basilisks in-game)
- Examples: Small lizards, early reptiles
Spider Egg
- Size Category: Insectoid
- Used For: Arthropod and insect-like creatures
- Obtain: Naturally laid by spiders
- Examples: Prehistoric arthropods, large insects
- Creatures Using This Egg: Mesolimulus
Alligator Egg
- Size Category: Medium
- Used For: Medium-sized reptiles and birds
- Obtain: Naturally laid by alligators (requires alligators in-game)
- Examples: Medium theropods, hadrosaurs, ceratopsians
- Creatures Using This Egg: Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Corythosaurus, Euoplocephalus, Coelurus, Ornithosuchus, Mussaurus
Egg Processing
Cleaning Eggs
Before fertilization, eggs must be cleaned:
- Place the egg in a crafting table with a Syringe (Clean)
- Output: Unfertilized Egg
- The syringe becomes dirty after use
Fertilizing Eggs
Once cleaned, eggs can be fertilized with DNA:
- Place DNA (100% quality) + Unfertilized Egg + Syringe (Clean) in a crafting table
- Output: Fertilized Egg (species-specific)
- The syringe becomes dirty after use
For detailed instructions, see Creating an Egg.
Usage
In Creature Creation
Eggs are the final vessel for DNA before incubation:
- Extract DNA from fossils using the Genetic Analyzer
- Refine DNA to 100% using the DNA Modifier
- Clean the appropriate egg type with a syringe
- Fertilize the egg with your DNA
- Place the fertilized egg in an Incubator
- Wait for the egg to hatch
Matching DNA to Eggs
Each creature's DNA requires a specific egg type:
- Check the creature's page to see which egg type is required
- Using the wrong egg type will not work
- The egg type is based on the creature's size and classification
Obtaining Eggs
Natural Sources
Most eggs are obtained from living creatures in your world:
- Chicken Eggs: Vanilla chickens naturally
- Frog Eggs: Find frogs in swamp biomes
- Spider Eggs: Rarely dropped by spiders
- Alligator Eggs: Obtain from in-game alligators
- Ostrich Eggs: Obtain from in-game ostriches
- Fish Eggs: Obtain from specific fish species
- Basilisk Eggs: Obtain from in-game basilisks
Farming Tips
- Build dedicated farms for egg-producing creatures
- Alligators, ostriches, and basilisks are creatures added by Jurassic Saga
- Keep multiple animals of each type for consistent egg production
- Some eggs may be rarer than others depending on creature spawn rates

Tips
- Always check a creature's wiki page to confirm which egg type it requires
- Stock up on common egg types like Chicken and Alligator Eggs for frequent use
- Build farms for Jurassic Saga creatures (alligators, ostriches, basilisks) to ensure steady egg supply
- Keep cleaned eggs separate from raw eggs to avoid confusion
- Ostrich Eggs are needed for the largest creatures, so prioritize ostrich farming
Trivia
- The egg system in Jurassic Saga adds realism to the genetic engineering process, requiring appropriate vessels for different creature sizes
- The variety of egg types reflects the biological diversity of prehistoric life
- Alligator Eggs are the most versatile, used for many medium-sized dinosaurs
- The egg cleaning and fertilization process mirrors real-world laboratory procedures
- In the Jurassic Park franchise, eggs were artificially created in laboratories, but Jurassic Saga uses a hybrid approach combining natural eggs with genetic engineering
