LogoAraxer's Bestiary

Kills mode

In kills mode (progressionSystemType = "kills"), the Bestiary unlocks information based on how many of each entity you have defeated. There are no E→S ranks in this mode, just straightforward thresholds per info category.

Default thresholds

  • spawnLocationThreshold: 10
  • lootIconThreshold: 20
  • lootChanceThreshold: 50
  • advancedAttributesThreshold: 30
  • descriptionThreshold: 40
  • mobTypeChipKillsThreshold: 1 (to reveal a small category hint chip)

These defaults can be tuned in the server config. See config/configuration-reference for every key.

How it feels in play

  • Early kills reveal where the mob appears (biomes/dimensions) so you can track them down more easily.
  • As you continue, you see its possible drops (icons), then the estimated chances, then advanced stats and a lore description.
  • If you prefer to hide entities you haven’t engaged yet, set hideZeroKillEntities = true.

Example configuration

# Use kill-based progression
enableProgressionSystem = true
progressionSystemType = "kills"
# Thresholds (tune to taste)
spawnLocationThreshold = 10
lootIconThreshold = 20
lootChanceThreshold = 50
advancedAttributesThreshold = 30
descriptionThreshold = 40
# Optional visibility behavior
hideZeroKillEntities = false # set true to hide entries with 0 kills
forceObfuscation = false # force blurred/obfuscated info until unlocked
hideUndiscovered = false # hide entirely instead of obfuscating

Notes

  • Loot chances in kills mode come from the same underlying sources (loot tables, sampling, and optional datapacks) as in ranks mode; only the reveal timing is tied to kills.
  • Datapacks can still supplement or override loot for any entity regardless of progression style. See: datapacks/bestiary-entities-loot.
