Rendering Items with Arms in First Person

Overview

AzureLib now includes built-in support for rendering player arms in the first-person view for items, as long as the correct bones are defined in the item's model. This makes it easy to create immersive first-person item animations (like holding weapons, tools, or devices) without needing to manually sync custom arm models.

How It Works

If your item model contains the proper arm bones, AzureLib will automatically render them in first-person view when the player is holding the item. To enable this, you’ll need to import pre-defined arm bones into your .bbmodel and animate them where needed.

Adding Arms to Your Item Model

  1. Download the pre-built arms model: player_arms_import.bbmodel

  2. Open your item’s .bbmodel in Blockbench.

  3. Import the arm bones from the downloaded model into your own item model.

    • Keep the bone hierarchy and naming intact.
    • Do not move or reposition these bones in the base of your model.
    • The arm bones are hidden by default and will only appear when animated.
    • Only move/animate these bones in the animations where you want arms visible in first person.
  4. Export your updated model and recompile your resource pack or mod.

Example Usage

Notes

  • Make sure your animation only affects the imported arm bones when necessary.
  • The arm bones will only render during active animations that reference them.
  • For non-first person views, the arms won’t be shown.
  • Always test your item in-game to verify bone alignment and arm positioning.
