Ludodactylus (meaning "play finger") is a genus of anhanguerid pterodactyloid pterosaur from the Early Cretaceous period.
It is notable for its long, toothed beak and crest, resembling a blend of features seen in multiple pterosaur groups.

Appearance

  • Long, pointed beak lined with sharp teeth for catching slippery fish
  • Distinctive cranial crest extending from the snout
  • Large, membranous wings supported by elongated finger bones
  • Lightweight, hollow-boned body adapted for agile flight
  • Sharply clawed feet for gripping perches and prey
  • Displays strong sexual dimorphism:
    • Males have a striking orange-and-black banded crest and a darker, near-black body
    • Females have a more muted, mottled brown-and-tan coloration with a duller crest
  • In-game size: 5 blocks long and 4 blocks tall when wings are extended

Behavior

  • Hostile: Attacks players and small creatures on sight
  • Will swoop down aggressively at players and small creatures
  • Defends its territory fiercely, especially near water sources
  • Uses aerial dive-bomb attacks to disorient prey

Obtaining

  1. Find jurassic-saga:textures/item/natural/entity/animal/v2/extinct/ludodactylus/ludodactylus_fossil_remains Ludodactylus Remains or fossils
  2. Use the fossil revival process to create a Ludodactylus
  3. Hatch from an Ostrich Egg type egg

Diet

  • Piscivore: feeds primarily on fish sources
  • Patrols lakes, rivers, and coastal areas searching for fish to snatch mid-flight

Drops

When defeated, Ludodactylus may drop:

Mr.DNA Mr. DNA's Fun Trivia

  • Ludodactylus' name, meaning "Play Finger" comes from the fact it was the first Pterosaur ever discovered with a Pteranodon-like head crest and teeth, something often portrayed in pterosaur toys!
  • Ludodactylus was related to other pterosaurs such as Cearadactylus and Caulkicephalus, living in what is now Brazil!
  • Ludodactylus likely relied on it's teeth to seize fish quickly and effectively!
  • The achievement "It's a Birdcage" references the line said by Dr. Grant in Jurassic Park III during the Aviary sequence
  • Ludodactylus was one of the largest pterosaurs in its ecosystem, with an estimated wingspan of around 5 meters
