Mr. DNA's Fun Trivia
- Stegosaurus tail spikes are called a "Thagomizer", a term that came from a joke on a comic strip that was later adopted by Paleontologists!
- Stegosaurus was heavily protected by it's plates and tail spikes, fitting for an animal that lived with vicious predators such as Ceratosaurus, Torvosaurus and Allosaurus!
- Stegosaurus was the largest Stegosaurian to ever exist, and lived with some of it's relatives, such as Hesperosaurus and Dacentrurus!
Trivia
- The achievement "That's how it always starts.." is a reference to Ian Malcolm's quote from The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997): "Ooh, aah, that's how it always starts. But then later there's running and screaming"
- The term "thagomizer" for Stegosaurus's tail spikes comes from a 1982 The Far Side comic by Gary Larson and was later adopted by paleontologists
- Despite its iconic appearance, Stegosaurus had one of the smallest brain-to-body ratios of any dinosaur
