Oreochima is an extinct genus of prehistoric fish from the Early Jurassic of Antarctica.
It belonged to a group of early ray‑finned fishes and lived in cold, freshwater environments long before the continent froze over.
Despite its small size, Oreochima represents an important stage in the evolution of modern bony fishes.

Appearance

  • Small, streamlined freshwater fish
  • Slender body with a slightly upturned head profile
  • Thin, delicate fins suited for calm river or lake environments
  • Likely displayed subtle striping or patterning for camouflage
  • In‑game size: 1 block long and 1 block tall

Behavior

  • Passive: does not attack or flee aggressively
  • Slowly swims in rivers, ponds, and shallow waters
  • Often found in small groups, mimicking schooling behavior
  • Will attempt to avoid predators but is not fast enough to escape most threats

Obtaining

Oreochima does not spawn naturally. To obtain one, you must:

  1. Enable Experimental Features
  2. Find jurassic-saga:textures/item/natural/entity/animal/v2.5/extinct/oreochima/oreochima_fossil_remains Oreochima Remains or fossils
  3. Use the fossil revival process to create an Oreochima
  4. Hatch from a Fish Egg type egg

Drops

When defeated, Oreochima may drop:

Mr.DNA Mr. DNA's Fun Trivia

  • Oreochima fossils were discovered in the Fremouw Formation of Antarctica, revealing that the region once supported freshwater ecosystems!
  • The genus represents early ray‑finned fish evolution, predating many modern fish lineages!
  • Its small size and simple anatomy make it one of the more "ancient‑looking" creatures revived in Jurassic Saga!
  • The achievement "So Fierce, So Ancient" humorously contrasts its tiny size with its deep evolutionary history!
